Learn Remotely

Wilson Architects of Wilson Architects for St Andrew’s Anglican College on Australia’s Sunshine Coast designed The Learning Hub as a space that brings all student services and academic areas under one roof, providing students with collaborative spaces as well as individual study areas. Additionally, there is also a library, interview rooms and pods in this bustling space where staff move around supporting student studies.

The Hub is now an energetic center of school life and has transformed its culture, according to Managing Director Hamilton Wilson. Wilson believes students see it as their own space; their participation has become more engaged. Furthermore, Gippsland Tech School now provides advanced subjects at regional schools.

Glynis Floribert hails from Africa but now studies at Andrews University in Michigan. Andrews stands out among American graduate offerings due to its interactive cohort model, applied research and global context; these elements combined enable him to hone skills that will allow him to work toward peace and development back home in Africa. Furthermore, its collaborative approach allowed him to form connections with fellow Christian leaders from various parts of the globe – which was especially valuable.

Strand G – Teaching Practices

At the heart of our College campus lies The Learning Hub complex – both physically and metaphorically. This sprawling facility houses primary and secondary school libraries, multiple collaborative spaces for general, extension, and remedial teaching and learning, staff and IT department offices, student lounges, as well as an expansive outdoor learning area – it truly epitomises its name! It embodies our focus on interwoven teaching-and-learning across disciplines.

This strand will explore proactive classroom strategies that empower students to manage their own behaviors and make positive choices in challenging situations. Participants will develop a toolbox of responses, including restorative practices and self-reflection; further gaining an understanding of how restorative frameworks apply within classroom environments.

Schools at all stages of implementation of PBIS are encouraged to participate in this strand, with content tailored specifically for teams at various implementation points: deepening universal implementation; ensuring equity and cultural responsiveness; building momentum and staff commitment; responding to staff or administrator turnover; expanding or refining targeted interventions; or preparing for an MTSS roll-out.

This strand will provide school leadership teams with the knowledge needed to establish a culture of belonging, respect, and responsibility at their school by taking a restorative approach. Participants will work as part of their team to devise procedures when learning is disrupted that adhere to this restorative philosophy and map them with consistency across their team. Furthermore, this course provides insight into trauma’s effect on child development along with strategies designed to promote resilience among students.

These include the LearningHub student information system; Moodle as the university’s learning management system; various tools used for distance education experiences such as QuickGuides or resources available to instructors, videoconferencing tools such as meetings or discussion forums as well as collaborative writing spaces – just to name a few!
