Super Bowl XII will always remain one of the greatest moments in NFL history and one of its first global events, thanks to Jack Lambert wrestling a Cowboy down and Lynn Swann making some spectacular catches. It was truly epic.

Heinz Field is within walking distance from hotels such as SpringHill Suites, Holiday Inn North Shore, and Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Downtown; budget options such as Airbnb are also available.

Even with two Hall-of-Famer quarterbacks and two All-Pro running backs on Dallas’ side of the ball, this game will go down in Dallas as a humiliation for bettors. The Cowboys couldn’t overcome dropped passes, questionable tripping calls, and poor officiating early in the fourth quarter before Steelers capitalized by scoring 14 unanswered points to take home victory.

Pittsburgh Suffers in the First Half

At halftime, Pittsburgh trailed Dallas as their defense restricted them to only 131 total yards of offense. Thanks to Ben Roethlisberger-Antonio Brown’s touchdown connection for the Steelers’ only score, Dallas scored early in the second quarter. Ken Willis field goal later, Dallas continued scoring as Emmitt Smith ran in a 3-yard touchdown, and Michal Irvin caught a 66-yard touchdown pass en route to leading a 24-17 advantage at halftime.

The second-half action proved much closer. Steelers kicker Gary Anderson scored a 42-yard field goal to narrow Dallas’s deficit, then Randy White fumbled again, with John Banaszak recovering it after carrying it with a cast on his hand (“no excuse,” according to Tony Dungy later). Terry Bradshaw connected with Lynn Swann on an impressive extended pass play, which tied up the game at 28-17.

In the final quarter, both teams exchanged punts and had several close calls before Tony Dorsett led his Cowboys on an 89-yard drive that culminated with Rafael Septien’s 54-yard field goal that cut the lead to 35-30. Following this scoring play by Dorsett, Billy Joe Dupree caught one pass before setting up Rafael Septien for his 54-yard field goal that cut it further to 35-30. Bradshaw responded with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Lynn Swann before Bradshaw made history when they threw an unprecedented 34-yarder, which set new records for longest pass reception in Super Bowl history – setting new records in both cases!

Dick LeBeau disguised a Zone Blitz against Irvin and easily beat him in coverage to haul in a pass for a touchdown, giving his Cowboys another devastating defeat. The Dallas Cowboys could not overcome turnovers, drops, and questionable officiating in the fourth quarter to remain one of the only two defending champions to lose a Super Bowl. Furthermore, they became the first team to give up 30 points during a Super Bowl game. But that doesn’t have to be a tragedy; both teams deserved victory! Luckily, there are still ways for fans to watch today’s Steelers game online for free, such as Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, or Hulu Live, which allows users to stream the games directly onto a PC, tablet, or phone! Plus, these services provide free trials, so go without fear! I promise it won’t be a mistake!
