Octopath Traveler 2 Black Market Guide

25

Five years after Square Enix released Octopath Traveler, ACQUIRE Corp has released its sequel. Octopath Traveler 2 features HD-2D art and an expansive world.

One of the game’s most effective mechanics is its ability to quickly change between day and night with just the push of a button, giving access to the Black Market early on and providing Castti with weapons, armor, and items necessary for his Concoct talent.

Rosary of Redemption

Rosary of Redemption is one of Octopath Traveler 2’s most effective accessories, enabling players to equip it on any of their characters to boost their Physical Attack and Critical stats drastically. But to unlock its full potential, combine this accessory with the Blessing in Disguise item that converts negative stat bonuses from equipped gear into positive ones, so the Rosary of Redemption becomes even more helpful than before!

Acquiring the Rosary of Redemption should not be complicated; various shops throughout Solistia sell it, as do Black Markets that appear during nighttime in New Delsta Flats and Brightlands. Players that do not wish to spend 3,000 Leaves can also use their character’s Steal or Mug path action to steal or mug it from certain NPCs; specifically, Throne and Osvald can steal it from an Elderly Man in Flamechurch Crestlands or from Traveler Abandoned Village Brightlands.

Players should remember that there is a high chance of failure when attempting to steal or mug it, and they may need to visit locations more than twice to acquire it. Furthermore, it may be possible that the Rosary of Redemption can be found hidden among chests around Solistia; look out for such bins in crevices or hidden spots for increased odds.

The Rosary of Redemption can simplify boss fights by protecting low HP party members and making them less likely to be targeted by enemies. Furthermore, this item significantly increases Physical Attack and Critical damage output, which can prove particularly helpful when facing powerful bosses.

Accessories with defensive properties can also come in handy during long boss fights. A powerful defensive addition such as an accessory could protect a healer or low HP damage dealer from being one-shot by their boss with one attack, saving time and energy when grinding out levels.

Bottled Nightmare

Bottled Nightmare, one of the Grotto Gang’s monsters, is an amorphous black mass of arms enclosed within a glass bottle with its eyes prominently visible behind its transparent exterior. When near them, its arms reach out towards them, reaching for them whenever it can. First seen during the beach episode where it appeared, Bottled Nightmare caused havoc before the Gang realized it simply wanted a hug!

Octopath Traveler 2 lets you challenge many NPCs to duels, a one-on-one fight that temporarily incapacitates them and may reveal hidden treasure or unlock special combat abilities. Some NPCs may prove more challenging than expected; to increase your odds of victory against such higher-level adversaries, use Bottled Nightmare, which inflicts multiple status effects with each turn for greater chances at success.

To acquire Bottled Nightmare, visit the New Delta Flats black market at night and look for an NPC selling Throwable Items near the entrance of Abandoned Village. When you find one of these merchants, purchase one Bottled Nightmare for 3,000 leaves – this expensive but handy item can help defeat high-level enemies more quickly!

Castti’s Concoct Talent

Castti is a healer in Octopath Traveler 2 who employs concoctions to attack enemies and strengthen allies. Her Medicinal Concoction restores HP/SP or removes status effects, while Hazardous Concoction deals elemental damage; both concoctions can also be supported with ingredients to increase their strength. She can donate BPs to allies, applicable when buffing tanky characters or decreasing an enemy’s defenses.

Players can locate Castti in Canalbrine Harbor Town. She was found drifting aimlessly at sea, suffering from amnesia. Castle has set off to learn more about herself through Inquire, her day path action that allows her to speak to townpeople for insight into her past; to be effective with this action, she needs to be at a certain level, so players should keep her at least close in class to their party’s average level.

Castti’s best weapon in combat is her Medicinal Concoction, which can raise an ally’s Blood Pressure and provide healing effects or be enhanced to deal more damage or apply more effects. Her Hazardous Concoction can also cause enemies to fail their turns or poison them; she can capture enemies using Leghold Trap or reduce an opponent’s defense with Beastly Howl for added versatility.

Castle relies heavily on her Talents when fighting in battle, particularly during the late-game when they can be used more frequently. Every Drop Count allows her to create Concoctions without using materials, which can prove especially helpful against more formidable enemies or bosses.

Like other Octopath Traveler 2 characters, Castti’s Path Actions and Latent Powers change with day/night transition, enabling her to perform unique actions during this timeframe. For instance, she can steal items from unassuming NPCs during the day before ambushing them at night to gain entry to blocked areas.

New Delsta Flats

Octopath Traveler 2 provides players a new continent to discover, packed with secrets. From hidden jobs that can make your party even stronger to NPCs offering deals at shops, there is much to uncover about Solistia in Square Enix’s 2.5 HD RPG. One of its greatest surprises lies within New Delsta Flats on the eastern continent, which can be reached via New Delsta City or a ferry service at Crackridge Harbor – one of its best-hidden secrets lies in this section.

The Black Market is an uncharted spot that can be discovered when exploring New Delta Flats during nighttime. Walk towards the center ruins until you come upon an area with brick arches and a ladder. An NPC will comment that “black markets” appear during this time; when nightfall arrives, several shop vendors offer different goods at this secret spot.

At this black market, you’ll find weapon upgrades and magic items to increase your party’s damage output, along with new armor for an added layer of protection for yourself and others in your group. Some gear you can find here might even be superior to New Delta; visit this place early in your playthrough for the best deals!

Other items you can buy on the Black Market include an Energizing Pomegranate to increase your HP temporarily and Herb of Serenity, which reduces an enemy’s ice defense. Kite Shields protect from magical and physical attacks. Furthermore, Black Market vendors sell potions that can help in battle and offer you the chance to sell unwanted items for some cash.
