How to Blog for Profit: 4 Steps

Using a blog to advertise your business online can be done on a shoestring budget. Now more than ever, blogging can support itself financially. It began as a means of communication amongst individuals on any given subject. Its original purpose was to serve as a socially accessible electronic diary. However, it has developed into much more than that.

Some blogs operate to promote an established enterprise, and for others, blog traffic is their only source of revenue. Blogs are replacing traditional websites as the primary communication between businesses and their clients.

YOU NEED TO ESTABLISH A GOOD BLOG before I tell you how to make money blogging. Unfortunately, we don’t have the space to review all of the valuable materials.

You can monetize your blog in four different ways:

First, Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Ads

You can experiment with PPC ads on your blog. When a visitor to your blog clicks on one of these advertisements, you receive compensation. Simply clicking is all that is needed. Depending on the ad, you could take anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars for every click.

Several different advertising platforms are available to you. Google’s AdSense is by far the most common. In addition to Yahoo’s Publisher Network, Chitika, and Kontera, there are Kanoodle’s bright lights.

It’s simple to join any of them and start using them on your site. Before signing up for anything, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the terms of service. If you break their rules, they can kick you off their network, and you’ll lose whatever commissions you’ve made.

2. Promote Direct Marketing Sales

Many individuals are intimidated by the idea of trying to “sell” advertising space on their site. The prospect of selling isn’t appealing to them, but ultimately, this doesn’t amount to much. Banner ad slots are a common feature of WordPress themes. Making a tiny banner in one of these spots is simple and requires little effort.

You don’t have to build your advertising banner if you don’t want to or don’t think you can. Ad networks might sell the advertising space on your website. PerformancingAds.com, CrispAds.com, and AdBrite.com are just a few examples. These networks need a fee, but they handle the bulk of the job, so you don’t have to.

Leverage affiliate marketing

One other simple approach to financial independence is affiliate marketing. In affiliate marketing, you function as something like a freelance peddler. It’s also not difficult to generate revenue. You aren’t using standard sales strategies like pressure and persistence to close the deal. You merely impart knowledge on your subject and recommend a service your audience may appreciate. The positive and negative aspects of the service or product are discussed, along with the reasons for your preference. If you think it’s a worthwhile product, you can encourage your readers to learn more by providing a link to its official website. They can choose to buy the product after clicking the link to the sales page, or they can choose not to.

Products for this purpose can be found in numerous locations. The most well-known of these is undoubtedly ClickBank.com. There is also LinkShare.com, PayDotCom.com, and Commission Junction (CJ.com). These are all affiliate product clearinghouses.

Make your stuff and put it out there.

You can use the search bar in section 3 above to look for products that could interest your audience. Discovering a product that sells well among your readership is a terrific opportunity. See the quality of the product for yourself by making a purchase. Don’t just copy and paste their work without giving them credit; instead, put it into your own words. Even if you sell an eBook for $37, your compensation may only be $20. You can publish and market your version of the book for the same or even more money.

Alternatively, you may look for a book already authored by someone else and pay to have the rights transferred to you. These are often referred to as “private label rights.” If you decide to go this route, I recommend using the purchased item as inspiration for your product and adding your twist. The last thing you want is to sell something you didn’t create and have your viewers locate the exact item someone else utilized.

Perhaps you have 15 or 20 posts connected to the same information, like a tutorial. Gather these pieces of content and publish them as a report or ebook. Then pitch it to them to help them consolidate all that information into one place. Another option is to record yourself reading the text you have created. The next step is to profit from your readers by selling them the audio versions. Audio is viewed as more valuable than a written report or electronic book. The value of using screen capture software to create a movie that can be used to market a product increases dramatically.

As you can see, blogging may be a lucrative source of income in several ways. Additional options exist, but these are the most straightforward and widespread ones to monetize a blog. There is no surefire solution, so try several things if necessary. But give any method you choose a solid three-month run before switching to something else. Keep doing what you’re doing if you’re not obtaining at least 500 unique visits each month after three months.

If you want to know if anything is successful, you need traffic. If you only receive 50 visitors a month, that doesn’t mean your actions aren’t working. There wouldn’t be enough of an audience to warrant any business conclusion. Emotions tend to take over when making a choice based on such low numbers.
